IPOs and the New VC Exit Reality

It now costs roughly $2.5 million extra for a corporation to go public, creating a barrier to exit for many venture capital-backed businesses, according to James Robinson, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of RRE Ventures. Robinson discusses his firm’s “stage-agnostic” investment approach, explains why he looks for projects that can morph and teams that can pivot, details the size of total addressable market that his firm requires when considering an investment, and comments on why new regulations have resulted in public-company rules that force smaller companies to bean burdens intended for large, unwieldy corporations.
